How do I get a star value on my level?
The developer, RobTop, chooses levels that are deemed "good enough" for a rating. Questions like these are hard to answer as there are no specific guidelines. However, contacting in-game Moderators who can send a level to RobTop increases the chances of getting your level rated.
How does the Sent tab work?
The Sent tab under Search simply shows levels sent by Moderators based on when they were sent, from most recent to oldest. If another Moderator sends the level later, it will be put back to the top. The same Moderator resending the level will not change its position, but the suggested rating will update if it is different from the previous one. Note that the placement of a level on the list has limited effect on the chances of it being rated; RobTop has many ways of sorting sent levels that do not only show single sends in chronological order. As a result, the timing of a send is also not that important. This tab is only there to give the community a chance to play levels "endorsed" by the Moderator team. You can use the Demon filter before clicking Sent to see only levels sent for a Demon rating.
Do I need many sends to get a rated level?
No, you do not need a specific number of sends to get a rated level.
What decides a rated level's placement on the Featured tab?
Any levels that get Featured, Epic, Legendary, or Mythic are placed on the Featured tab. The placement is manually set by RobTop based on various factors, such as recency, playability, optimization, and more.
Why can I not download levels?
This may be due to Geometry Dash servers being down or poor internet connection on your end. It may also be due to an IP ban; this can happen automatically due to high traffic from your connection. In that case, wait for a while and retry.
Why can I not upload levels to the server?
This most commonly occurs when the Geometry Dash server is down. There is a word filter which prevents you from uploading levels with a specific name or description. You can try changing either to fix this. Additionally, if you upload a level then remove it from the server, you will not be able to reupload it unless you copy it and reverify it. Another reason may be a rate limit due to uploading too many levels over a short amount of time. In this case you have to wait a while before retrying. If you have outdated account credentials, many online services including uploading levels will be blocked. Go to "Account", "More", then "Refresh Login" and try logging in again. If this gives an error, try restoring your password using the Account Manager website.
Why can I not update my level on the servers?
All rated levels with an ID of 80M or lower cannot be updated without special permission. This is to protect them from bad updates, whether the creator was hacked or simply wants to change it a lot, making its quality very different from when it was rated. As such, older rated levels are protected and will give an error when you attempt to update them. You can ask any Elder Moderator for permission with an explanation of how and why you want to update it. If you have a good reason, such as fixing gameplay bugs or improving some visuals, Elder Moderators will unlock the level for you. Note that whether you are permitted to update it or not is completely up to the team's discretion. Additionally, if you abuse this access, all your rated levels may be locked from updates permanently.
Why can I not delete my levels from the servers?
Levels that have more than 1000 downloads cannot be deleted by the creator to avoid abuse if the account is hacked or stolen. Contact an Elder Moderator to have it deleted. If the level is rated, it cannot be deleted.
Why is my level only found by searching the ID?
This is due to a server-side glitch, and can be fixed by contacting a Moderator.
Why is the online level I downloaded empty upon playing?
This most commonly occurs when the level has a lot of objects. If you notice the level is empty, exit it and use the refresh button to attempt a redownload.
I found an issue in a level. What do I do?
If you have an issue with a specific level, such as general level bugs, you must talk to the creator to get it fixed. Alternatively, for bugs related to 2.2's release, you can use this form.
Why can I not open my editor level?
This is because you placed a huge amount of objects overall or in a small area. There is not a defined number on how many objects there must be to happen as it varies based on the area or device used. A possible solution is to load a previous save of your data to get an earlier copy that can be opened.
I cannot select nor delete any objects in the editor. How do I fix this?
You might have enabled a delete filter. A lot of people do not realize that this setting is on. Go to the "Delete" section at the bottom, and set the filter to none on the right side and try again. If this does not work, you can try reinstalling the game.
Why can I not move objects in the editor?
This may happen when you have certain third-party tools installed and enabled. Disable any third-party tools and your issue should be solved. If this does not help, reinstall the game as your files could be damaged.
What is the Magic tab?
This tab shows unrated levels that meet several criteria, one of which is being made by users with Creator Points, along with other secret ones. Note that the requirements for the tab were recently changed, and that Moderators can remove levels that are inappropriate or otherwise not suitable to be highlighted.
Why is there no Daily or Weekly?
This means that RobTop has yet to select a level.
Do I get stars if I complete a level before it gets rated? Do I lose stars if I complete a level that gets unrated?
For the first question, yes, but you may have to refresh the level afterwards. At this time, you do not lose Stars from a level that is unrated, but this may change in the future.
How do I uncomplete a level?
If you recently completed a level and want to undo the completion, try logging out of your account and in again right after. Load your data from the cloud as you might have old progress without the completion. Loading without logging out first will not help as it will just merge the data.
Why does this level have so many dislikes? Is that a sign of hackers?
In many cases, especially for newly rated levels, excessive dislikes is typically another action done as abuse by bots. This will usually be reverted by RobTop for rated levels.
Someone is spamming the comments of a level. Is that a sign of hackers?
The only "hacking" being done here is abuse of bots. These accounts will be automatically cleaned up by RobTop and can be reported to Elder Moderators to speed up the process or if manual work is necessary.
Why does this online level have a difficulty that does not match the stars?
This may be due to an update after the level was rated. Otherwise it may be RobTop rating it wrong, which should be fixed in time.
